Once again the Premier Model Air Show for the South West took place last weekendand you can now view the video of Saturdays flying.
Thankfully this year the weather was more kind, especially Saturday. I arrived just after 10am and there were a couple of hundred spectators already in attendance. This year, there was an absence of full size displays. In my opinion, that brought the show back to its roots of model flying. Instead, we were treated to slots of really magnificent models, some very large indeed. The usual excitement was there with the toffee bomber for the kids and the retail sellers for Dad to stock up on a new kit or fuel or just to browse. There were several hi-lights in the flying. Steve flew his new Bipe, Ali flew a very large Cub and later in the day an A-10 jet flew. This was together with all the models flown by Woodspring members, and other visiting fliers, who also put on magnificent displays. All in all, I think this show was better than previous shows, because they returned to the basics of just being a model air show.
It was sad to report the crash of one of the Red Arrows jets of the Father and Son team, they gave a magnificent display, but Sunday,it appears one of the jets suffered elevator failure and crashed in a fireball, well away from the crowd.
Watch the video I made of Saturdays flying. It is a large file to download, some 260 meg, it should stream well.
